On this site I share my research and efforts into analyzing action. There is movement all around us every day and everywhere, but this doesn't mean that we actually see and understand this movement. It all passes by in fractions of seconds or we take it for granted and don't really pay attention. That's not good enough if you want to animate and create the illusion of movement. You have to know how things move, and break the movement down in 25 pieces for every second. On this website the action analysis is mainly aimed for the purpose of character animation. An animated character could be a human, an animal, a bird, or anything based on any living creature. There are of course an endless amount of actions that any creature could perform. This website explores only some basic ones: how does a bird fly? How does it land and take off? How does an animal with four legs walk? How do two characters performing an action together use their weight and balance?
All pictures, videos, drawings and animations on this website were made by me for the purpose of this research. Enjoy the action!
